My teaching experience spans politics, international relations, security studies, Russian and Ukrainian foreign policy, public speaking, cross-cultural communication, and research skills. I have taught in the UK and China, working with students across undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
At the University of Nottingham, I have contributed to teaching on modules including The Russo-Ukrainian War, Global Security, Politics at University, Russia and Great Power Politics, Race and Politics, and Russian Foreign Policy. My teaching has included lectures, seminars, marking, and student support across Levels 1, 2, 3, and 4. I have also taught on What’s Trending at Aston University, contributing lectures and seminars for Level 1 students.
Before joining the University of Nottingham, I taught at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and Zhejiang Normal University. My teaching there included Public Speaking, Survey of English-Speaking Countries, and Cross-Cultural Communication, combining language, culture, communication, and international perspectives.
My teaching is informed by my research on Ukrainian national identity, foreign policy, European security, and Russian-language IR academia security discourse. I aim to help students connect theoretical debates with contemporary political developments, especially in relation to war, identity, diplomacy, and international order. In the classroom, I value student-led discussion, critical engagement with ideas, and the use of contemporary examples to make complex political issues accessible.
I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and have completed training in teaching and learning in higher education, including the Teaching and Learning Development Programme, Advance HE Professional Standards Framework training, and Preparing to Teach in Higher Education.
